Welcome to

Hello and welcome to Maple- Year 5! We’re thrilled to have your child join our vibrant learning community.

Class Teacher
Miss E Moore
A welcome from the class teacher...
Hello! My name is Miss Moore, and I am a dedicated teacher with a passion for inspiring young learners. Outside the classroom, I love travelling and exploring new places—whether that’s discovering hidden local spots or experiencing different cultures around the world. I am also a proud pet parent to Kaspa, my energetic husky, and to my wonderful cats, who all keep me busy and brighten my days. Whether I’m teaching, walking my pets, or enjoying the outdoors, I am always eager to learn, explore, and share new experiences.
I am so excited to be teaching Year 5 this academic year. There are so many fun and exciting things to look forward to and I cannot wait to share them with you all. Throughout this year, children will be enhancing their writing techniques with a range of inspiring books and children will continue to develop their maths knowledge with more complex mathematical problem solving. Within the wider curriculum, we will be exploring some very exciting topics including, Earth and Space, the Ancient Mayans, the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings and Why Oceans are Important.
Year 5 in action
Black History Month
We learned all about the incredible artist Alma Thomas and used her unique style to inspire our own artwork.
Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings
For our History unit, we explored what life may have been like for the Anglo-Saxons when they first arrived to Britannia. We created our own clay pots, amulets and spun wool!
English
To link with our new test, 'The Island', we explored why someone might want to create a raft and sources appropriate materials to have a go at making our own.

Times Tables Rock Stars

We subscribe to TTRS so your children can have daily access at home and at school to this fantastic times tables resource.  There are a wide range of different game types for the children to explore whilst developing their times tables knowledge and fluency.  In the background, the site learns the areas your child might be finding more challenging and exposes them to more questions in these tables to help them improve.  We would recommend around 5-10 minutes practice per day.   If your child has forgotten their login, we can provide a copy.
