Hello and welcome to Year 3! My name is Miss Palmer, and I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year. Year 3 is such a special year as the children move into Key Stage 2 and begin a new chapter filled with independence, confidence, and exciting learning.
In our classroom, we focus on creating a happy, safe, and supportive environment where children feel confident being themselves. I believe that learning should be enjoyable, meaningful, and full of curiosity. We celebrate effort just as much as achievement, and mistakes are seen as part of learning. I always encourage children to try their best, ask questions, and be proud of their progress.
Year 3 is packed with lots of fun and engaging learning! In English, we will explore brilliant stories and texts that inspire imagination and help children grow as readers and writers. In Maths, we will build strong number skills and tackle problems together by using a variety of using practical activities, pictorial representations and engaging word problems.
We also love learning through hands-on experiences across the wider curriculum. In Science, we will explore exciting topics such as rocks, fossils and soils, forces, and plants through practical investigations. In History, we will travel back in time to learn about the Stone Age and the Ancient Egyptians, discovering how people lived in the past. In Geography, we will learn about settlements and explore Antarctica.
I am committed to making sure all learners feel supported and challenged in the classroom. Lessons are carefully adapted so that everyone can succeed and feel confident. Children are encouraged to develop independence, resilience, and teamwork skills.
Year 3 is also a year for building responsibility. Children will learn to take pride in their work, reflect on how they can improve, and support one another. We always aim to make learning exciting and fun.
I am really looking forward to a fantastic year full of learning, and achievements.

Times Tables Rock Stars
We subscribe to TTRS so your children can have daily access at home and at school to this fantastic times tables resource. There are a wide range of different game types for the children to explore whilst developing their times tables knowledge and fluency. In the background, the site learns the areas your child might be finding more challenging and exposes them to more questions in these tables to help them improve. We would recommend around 5-10 minutes practice per day. If your child has forgotten their login, we can provide a copy.
